(Relaxnews) ? On December 30, snowboarders around the globe will carve up the slopes to celebrate their sport on World Snowboard Day, now in its seventh edition.

Last year nearly 170 events in 37 countries took part, with an estimated 25,000 participants joining in the fun. This year, 47 events are scheduled so far in 22 countries, including concerts and parties, snowboarding lessons, environmental education sessions, and contests and demos.

Anne-Flore Marxer, Freeride World Champion, has signed on to be the official ambassador of the event.

World Snowboard Day, which grows in size every year, was created in 2006 by EuroSIMA, the World Snowboard Federation, and Outdoor Sports Valley.
