Deadline To March In Veterans Day Parade Is Oct. 24
The City of Aurora and the Fox Valley Marines are seeking a few good men and women to march in Aurora?s Veterans Day Processional Sunday, Nov. 11, which will be in a brand new location this year.
Organizations interested in participating should call the City?s Community Services Department at 630-256-3400 or email Sara Townsend at stownsend@aurora-il.org.? The deadline to submit an entry is Wednesday, Oct. 24.
The City is partnering with the Fox Valley Marines this year to honor those who have fought for our country?s freedom.? With construction of the Downer Place bridges ongoing, the event has been relocated to the Illinois Avenue bridge over the Fox River and Veterans Island.?
The processional steps off at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 11 from the Fox Valley Park District?s Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave.? Following the processional, a ceremony honoring local veteran organizations will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Veterans Island.? The ceremony will be concluded with a military rifle salute.?
