Snow Continues, Turns to Blizzard as the Storm Progresses in Connecticut

Yahoo! News is gathering brief first-person accounts, photos and video from the severe winter weather in the northeastern United States. Here's one resident's story.

FIRST PERSON | FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- I took these photos at 4:30 p.m., Friday, in the Greenfield Hill neighborhood of Fairfield. The snow storm in southern Connecticut continues on and has turned to blizzard conditions. Although the snow was gently falling throughout most of the day, right now the fine wet snow is turning and twisting with strong gusts of wind.

Snow has covered the downed trees and remnants of Hurricane Sandy's damage on our property. The neighborhood streets are quiet.

We have about six inches of snow on the ground, but we are bracing ourselves for the bulk of the snow that has not yet arrived. My husband has been raking our roof every hour to avoid an ice dam on the when the storm is over and the snow melts.
